A hybrid story driven culture approach in both the native and target language will helpstudents not only with their vocabulary, but also grammar, personal storytelling, smalltalk, and a strong understanding of the target language’s modern and traditionalcultures. As the student continues to learn about the cultural norms, and the new worldaround him/ her, the student will develop the intrinsic motivation of personaldevelopment by asking questions, discovering new facets of the culture,in short- becoming curious and thereby cultivating the intrinsic desire to learn more about thetarget language. In contrast to a traditional pedagogical approach of learning history and society of aculture, the learner will be able to understand multiple aspects of the world around him/her with modern day insight, understanding values, as well as age old traditionsthrough this method while having the opportunity to use the target language. This paper will serve as an example for the story driven cultural approach. Morespecifically, this will provide examples for activities for EFLs and ESL students (Spanishspeaker with English as his/ her target language.
