There are various types of prepositions that help determine relationships between nouns and other parts of a sentence, including positions (also known as positional language1). In this paper I will discuss positional language along with a few examples.

They are inside the library. We like to play outside. The toy is above the shelf. I want to go on the ride. The crayons are to the left of the markers. He likes to drive under the bridge.
