This manual provides examples of activities held within a Community College settings with ESL adult learners including - Dialouge Journals, Idiom Searches, and "Human Bingo” to name a few. This resource also highlights the importance of student self image, communictaive competenece , along with any required materials needed for the suggested activities.

On Page 4, the dire need for this manual is stated clearly by Dr. Bahruth - "Lamentably, ESL students left to their own resources tend to employ avoidance strategies which minimize their interaction with the community. Such students often live long in American cities and towns without experiencing a full range of natural contacts and relationships with the host culture. Many develop unfavorable impressions about Americans because of their inability to "break the ice" with them."
